The next part of the Renters Rights Bill’s progress in the House of Lords is expected next week, shortly after peers return from their Whitsun recess on June 2.
Lords spent some 30 hours of debate on the Bill between April 22 and May 15 on the Committee Stage of the Bill’s passage.
Over 300 proposed changes were discussed, with only a small number being agreed to.
The Bill now proceeds to the Report Stage where the Lords will review and debate those amendments made at Committee Stage.
The Bill then returns to the House of Commons where it is anticipated there will be rapid agreement and the measure will be sent for Royal Assent.
The legal firm Forsters, which has been closely monitoring the Bill’s progress, believes it could become law in late summer.
