A pet food manufacturer has created a league table of what it claims are the most pet-friendly cities for private rentals.

In none of the cities there is over 14% of rental listings designated as pet-friendly.

Glasgow tops the list, as the most pet-friendly rental city in the UK although only 14% of the 551 listed rental properties are pet-friendly. 

Northampton ranked in second, where just over one in 10 (11.2%) of the properties are suitable for owners and their furry friends, and rounding off the trop three, Manchester ranked as the third best city in the UK, with 9.2% pet-friendly rental properties, which is 181 out of 1,962 available.

Towards the bottom of the top ten, London ranked in eighth with2,858 rentals out of 44,822 – a total of 6.37% pet-friendly rentals. Sheffield ranks closely behind in ninth with 6% of pet-friendly rental properties and Plymouth completes the top ten with 5.9%

Portsmouth was revealed as the worst in the country for pet-friendly renting with just 2.2% of homes allowing furry friends. Only narrowly better than the southern city were Nottingham and Newcastle with 2.74% and 2.75% respectively. Also sitting at the bottom of the rankings are Exeter (3.2%), Bristol (3.6%) and Leeds (4%).
