Chancellor faces £7,500 bill on rental property under EPC reforms – report

Landlords worried about impending energy efficiency rules on their rental properties may want to spare a thought for the chancellor.

It has been revealed that Rachel Reeves home, which has been put on the rental market while she resides at Number 11, only has an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D.

That means from 2030 she would need to pay for works to get it to a minimum of a C rating in order to keep renting it out.

The property’s EPC, seen by the Daily Telegraph, shows Reeves would need to spend between £4,900 and £7,550 to get it up to a C rating.
