The Green Party candidate in tomorrow’s Gorton and Denton by-election has been accused of being a ‘property-hoarding hypocrite’.
The Daily Mail has uncovered details of what it calls “her ruthless dealings in the housing market.”
Although the party has recently vowed to abolish all private landlords, introduce rent controls and implement a wealth tax, the Mail says Green candidate Hannah Spencer has amassed a £1.2m property empire.
It also says she has in the past offered online tips “on how to rip off first-time homeowners, flip properties and intimidate buyers.”
The Mail claims that after her mother helped her buy her first home a decade ago, she has owned several properties – including a £736,000 second home apparently bought in August 2024.
In historic online posts she allegedly advises sellers how to squeeze more cash out of people.
The Mail writes: “In one case where her buyers knew they were paying too much, she threatened them with selling to another buyer until they ‘found’ the money.
“She even refers to those who hike offers in increments as ‘stingy and more likely to haggle’.”
Tomorrow’s poll is seen as critical to the future of Sir Kier Starmer as Prime Minister.
A Labour source tells the Mail: “She is a millionaire property-hoarding hypocrite.”
A Green spokesperson did not comment on some of the Mail’s points, saying instead: “Normal person has normal conversations years ago … The Greens are winning, and the political and media establishment are going into smearsville overdrive.”
